Which Injectable is Right For You?

"Getting work done" is no longer the secret it once was. In fact, if you're not already on the train it is likely you are the last one of your friends to take advantage of technology's non-surgical cosmetic treatments.

At some point, it's hard to ignore the vivid signs of aging you see in the mirror -- little wrinkles around your eyes or lips, sunken face, maybe some sagging skin. There used to be few options for turning back the clock without going under the knife. But today, you can soften the effects of time on your face with many nonsurgical cosmetic procedures. But, which injectable is right for you? They are a versatile line of beauty products well suited to reverse many visible signs of aging. Let's start off by explaining some common aging complaints and which treatment is best.

Lines and wrinkles can be caused by repeated expressions, such as furring your brow, frowning, and smiling. Dermal injections prevent certain facial muscles from contracting and causing wrinkles. With skilled injections, you will look naturally rejuvenated.

Loss of Facial Volume

Dermal Fillers plump and smooth skin, adding volume and creating the appearance of a visible lift. They can be applied in the midface(cheeks), around the jowls, and even on the lips to add volume.

TMJ Pain

TMJ disorder is the inflammation of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). It’s the joint that allows your jaw to open and close. Unfortunately, it’s very sensitive and prone to inflammation. In some cases, chronic inflammation can make it difficult to eat, speak, and even just sleep and function without pain.

About Wrinkle Reducing Injections

Noticeable Wrinkle Smoothing with No Downtime

This is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of lines caused by expression. It works by blocking nerve impulses directly to the injected muscles. With real, noticeable results, no surgery, and no recovery time it is a perfect choice for many patients.

The procedure is considered a safe, effective way of treating aging skin.  Common areas for injections include horizontal forehead furrows, vertical lines between the eyebrows, and “crow’s feet” around the eyes.  These products have been proven to be the best non-surgical form of facial rejuvenation and are capable of producing phenomenal improvements in your appearance.

Reasons for Considering an Injection Treatment:

  • Excessive facial wrinkles.

  • Large wrinkles or furrows in your forehead.

  • Small wrinkles or “crow’s feet” around your eyes.

  • A vertical “frown line” between your eyebrows.

About Dermal Fillers

Most signs of aging in the face—wrinkles, lines, and crow’s feet—can be reversed by targeting volume in specific areas. Dermal fillers, also called injectable fillers and soft-tissue fillers, are aesthetic products approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help add volume and shape a natural, youthful facial appearance. Only licensed physicians, physician assistants, and nurses can perform dermal filler injections in the US.

Dermal fillers are safe and convenient. They’re made with a base ingredient of hyaluronic acid (HA), collagen, or some type of biosynthetic polymer—all naturally occurring substances. They’re not permanent, but some will produce results that last more than a year.

Dermal fillers are used to add volume. They help the body deliver nutrients to the skin, which also helps skin retain moisture. With dermal fillers, we can restore softness and smooth out things like:

  • Wrinkles

  • Cheek depressions

  • Deep lines from the nose to the mouth that show up as you get older

  • Acne scars

  • Frown lines

  • Scarring

  • Worry lines

  • Crow’s feet

  • Marionette lines

  • Lip borders

About Masseters Injection

Stop teeth clenching and grinding while slimming your face!

Wide jaws, pain, and migraines are unnecessary - Dr. Mularkey at Point Meadows Dentistry may have the treatment you’re looking for with the Masseters treatment. This procedure is a multi-tasker, from non-surgical jawline slimming to drug-free pain relief.

Masseter Treatment is frequently used to treat two types of concerns.

  1. Patients who complain of “grinding my teeth” (Bruxism-TMJ). Patients usually opt for this treatment when other solutions are ineffective in controlling the aches, pain, and associated headaches due to grinding their teeth. TMD (temporomandibular disorder) can cause pain in your jaw joint and in the muscles that control jaw movement.

  2. Jawline injections help to decrease the size. Most individuals with large muscles clench their teeth at night (unaware sometimes), chew gum excessively, or are weight lifters- deeming this treatment ideal.

Masseter injections make the surgical option less popular, as people tend to opt for the decision that doesn’t require undergoing the knife! A large muscle may require a few jawline injection sessions; moreover, it depends on the muscle size as the treatment differs from person to person

If you thought this was a time-consuming process, including a plethora of consultations, and strenuous hours of treatment. Don’t worry! A masseter session takes less than half an hour, including the consultation typically. This significantly reduces the time frame and adds convenience to the patient. Now, at Point Meadows Dentistry in Jacksonville, FL we can slim your jaw and ease pain without the need for invasive surgery.

About Kybella®

KYBELLA® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that destroys fat cells in the treatment area under the chin to improve your profile.

The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.

Before starting treatment, your healthcare specialist will examine the area under and around your chin to determine if KYBELLA® is right for you. Then, your specialist will tailor your treatment to the amount of fat under the chin and your aesthetic goals.

Is there a recovery period following Kybella® treatment? After the procedure, it's common to experience swelling, bruising, or numbness beneath your chin. It's essential to communicate any concerns to your healthcare provider, particularly if you notice issues like an uneven smile, facial muscle weakness, difficulty swallowing, or any problems at the injection site, such as bruising, hair loss, open sores (ulcers), or tissue cell death (necrosis). Should you observe open sores or drainage in the treated area, promptly contact your healthcare provider.

Kybella® is exclusively administered by a healthcare specialist who has received training in its application. During each session, you'll undergo a series of small injections beneath your chin, typically lasting around 15 to 20 minutes. The precise quantity of injections will be tailored to your specific submental fat level and the desired outcome you seek for your profile.

Kybella could be a suitable option if you're troubled by submental fullness, commonly called a double chin, and it affects your self-confidence or appearance, but you prefer a non-surgical solution even though you maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine.

Before receiving KYBELLA®, tell your healthcare provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you:

  • Have had or plan to have surgery on your face, neck, or chin

  • Have had cosmetic treatments on your face, neck, or chin

  • Have had or have medical conditions in or near the neck area

  • Have had or have trouble swallowing

  • Have bleeding problems

  • Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant (it is not known if KYBELLA® will harm your unborn baby)

  • Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed (it is not known if KYBELLA® passes into your breast milk)

  • Are taking any medications, especially blood thinners
